The exhibition « Behind the curtain« , an immersion into cuban national circus that was awarded in 2016 with the First Prize « Thème libre » at the Festival Off Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan, and traveled to San Francisco for the collective exhibition « Circus » at SF Camera Work, is now traveling to the Azores for the Azores Fringe Festival.
It is a pleasure to share my vision of the circus world so far in the Atlantic Ocean and to make such cultural differences cross their paths. I like to make people discover these circus artists so that they can learn about them, and about a different way of life.
I stayed two months in Cuba, following the circus workers during the festival and studying their living conditions. This is what I like to call « social photography », beautiful and useful, between art and documentary.
I am looking forward to meet the other selected artists during this international event and so curious to get to know their respective works.
Besides, I love speaking portuguese and observing whales so this seems to be a perfect place to go to.
