The exhibition “Behind the curtain“, an immersion into cuban national circus that was awarded in 2016 with the First Prize “Thème libre” at the Festival Off Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan, and traveled to San Francisco for the collective exhibition “Circus” at SF Camera Work, is now traveling to the Azores for the Azores Fringe Festival.
It is a pleasure to share my vision of the circus world so far in the Atlantic Ocean and to make such cultural differences cross their paths. I like to make people discover these circus artists so that they can learn about them, and about a different way of life.
I stayed two months in Cuba, following the circus workers during the festival and studying their living conditions. This is what I like to call “social photography”, beautiful and useful, between art and documentary.
I am looking forward to meet the other selected artists during this international event and so curious to get to know their respective works.
Besides, I love speaking portuguese and observing whales so this seems to be a perfect place to go to.
